Mal Young, former executive producer and former head writer of The Young and the Restless will be serving as writer and producer for an upcoming Amy Winehouse series based on the book Saving Amy by Daphne Barak. Young worked on Y&R from 2016 – 2018 in a lead capacity, now he is set to be a major part of the series based on the book which is based on 40 hours of footage, interviews, and photographs and centers on the difficulty Winehouse had trying to write new music after the success of her second album, “Back to Black.” The eight-episode series will also focus on Winehouse’s ups and downs in life. She died in 2011.
