Peter Bergman remembered Billy Miller’s audition for The Young and the Restless in a new piece in TV Weekly magazine.
In a recent issue of TV Weekly, Peter Bergman, who plays Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless, recounted Billy Miller’s audition for the role of Billy Abbott, a part that won him 3 Daytime Emmy’s in his 6 year tenure at Y&R. He remembered that Miller was on one end of the room where the casting crew could see him and he was on the other. He said Miller crossed the room and got right up into his face as they ran the scene. “No one had told him to do that or not do that, ” Bergman said. He said that he later told a higher up at CBS that Billy was “the only choice. He shook the room up. There’s nothing to talk about.”

Miller left the show in 2014 but according to Bergman, he had a lasting effect on the cast and crew. “He really touched a lot of live. He was generous of spirit and a fabulous fellow. The work he did with Amelia (Heinle) was the stuff of daytime history.”
Billy Miller passed away on September 15, 2023. According to his mother he had battled bipolar depression for many years and had lost his life to it. The Young and the Restless, Elizabeth Hendrickson, Jason Thompson, Amelia Heinle, and other cast members have all made touching tributes to their former co-star and friend.
